Chameleon (An Original Song)

Everyone thinks it's a good trait to be able to adapt to different environments. It is good, on normal levels. I, however--being the eccentric individual that I am--have taken it to the extreme. What's new?

I find myself being different persons to different persons...if you get what I mean. A friend once said that my circles of friends have no common denominator...except me. I do find myself "absorbing" other people's behavior until it becomes my own. I'm a sponge, and as much as that has good connotations, it also means I don't have a core. You strip off everyone's influences on me and you'll find a black hole. Nothing. Nada.

So here's a little something about my personality--or lack thereof. The chorus about eggs is based on the movie Runaway Bride, where Julia Robert's character copies however her partner likes his eggs done and never really thought about how she really wants them (we're talking about actual chicken eggs here, okay? Just to clarify. Lol). Yeah.

***
Put on my casual jeans
and walk along the city street
Never mind that I'm alone
A drop of rain that
Joins the puddle on the floor
Recognizable no more

However I appear
Won't last a minute here
Adapting to the strangeness
Of the nearest one
Nameless

How do you like your eggs?
I'll have it done as you would have
I sink in a sea of vagueness
Weightless
'Cause I'm an empty shell
Who am I?
Why do I become
Someone else when
I stand beside another
I begin to change my colors...

Between you and I
Is a mirror magnified
Raise your hand and I'll raise mine
Put myself inside your shoes
'Til they become my own
A grain of sand among the stones

However I appear
Won't last a minute here
Drowned in a crowd of faces
And still I remain nameless

How do you like your eggs?
I'll have it done as you would have
I sink in a sea of vagueness
Weightless
'Cause I'm an empty shell
Who am I?
Why do I become
Someone else when
I stand beside another
I begin to change my colors...
