Just something I wrote after news about flight MH17 broke out. So many tragedies these days, both by God and by man. And honestly sometimes I can't find the sincerity--even within myself--from the supposed empathy the victims are getting from onlookers. We post in social media with the corresponding hashtags but really, what does that do? More importantly, what can or did we do to alleviate--better yet, prevent--the bleeding from these tragic events?
That is a question I ask myself. And maybe some of you should try to answer it yourselves as well.

I can write my cries in a song
and they'd listen
and sing along
but what happens when the melody dies down
so does the the unity
so does the empathy
and we all go back to what we were before
fools with guns
cheeks that turn from the pleading hands
they could have lived another day
if we had half the heart
half the sincerity
to reach out for the helpless man
we needn't lose what we had lost
if beyond the melody we still sang
if instead of fists thrown in the air
to show that we really cared
these fists unfold into helping hands
to hold the weak who cannot stand
the world we live in is the world we've built
the ground slowly sinks
from the weight of our feet
so before the blame,
here's a question:
what have you done
to change our direction?
