Shallow

I found this on the notepad of my old phone last week. I think I wrote this last year. I'm not in the mood to arrange it into a song (lol) so I'll just post it as it is.

***
The sun shone behind the trees
The absence of reality
In darkness what do you see?
What can you see?

Push the red button and say sorry after
I'm used to saying sorry after
I leave my sentences hanging
Never finish what I start
'Cause I never stay committed

Only swim when it's shallow
Seek out the exit
As soon as I step inside
'Cause my promises are faint
Deeper attachments are harder to break
So I'll save myself the effort

An arm's length away
Better be strangers
I'm just passing by anyway
