Closing something right after it's opened...or something like that. ;)
***
There's comfort in distance --
a mutual resistance
to something too strong,
it could overwhelm us.
A thin curtain cover --
anything will do --
to shield us from feeling
what we already do.
My head's turned the wrong way
all of this time.
You've been looking my way
all of the while.
I could've turned around,
You could have called my name;
but neither did,
'cause neither could
be ever so brave.
There's relief in these walls
that divide our space.
I can think of you freely
without having to face
any kind of confrontation --
a confirmation or rejection.
In here, I can be uncertain
and you won't be obliged to wait.
There's contentment in idleness --
an illusion of safety.
I would prefer this silence
than to wake the fear inside me.
Even a glance could be binding,
dare we step beyond our boundaries...
There is comfort in distance
in a room of uncertainty.
There's serenity in estrangement;
we'll find it eventually.
