SO.
I'm now playing the cajon. LOL!
Where.
WHERE can you find such a musically gifted woman like me?
Just a little backgrounder, I have always wanted to learn to play drums since I saw the movie That Thing You Do in 1996. I was in 6th grade then (yes, I'm that old). It was a time when my parents set a limit to which whims of mine they gave in to because:
1) no money, and
2) walang karapatang maging spoiled
A drum set was expensive and I can't possibly play it in our neighborhood without earning a subpoena from the barangay hall. So I let that go and just settled for rock band drum games at the arcade (#kawawa).
In college, a friend and I watched an underground acoustic band and that was the first time I was introduced to the existence of the cajon. I immediately got one as soon as I went home for the holidays. It costs way cheaper than a drum set and is less noisy (papa really insists it's all just noise *sad face*), so my parents
Since then, the cajon was left to collect dust in the attic.
But recently I've been watching AlDub's videos (yes, I'm a fan, too) and I saw one of Yaya Dub (Maine Mendoza) playing drums. The wave of pent up frustrations flooded my whole being and suddenly I had an urge to hit something. Anything. And voila! My cajon was there, waiting like a loyal lover.
These days I've also been watching dance choreographies on Youtube and I loved this video by 1Million Dance Studio. That's how I knew about Pentatonix, and when I reunited with my cajon, La La Latch was the first song that came to mind.
SO. I know you're all excited (lol) so I won't make you wait any longer. May I present, my first full cajon performance. I know I look so macho so please just try to concentrate on the song? I already covered my face so you won't get too
P.S. How cute is my dog Max? He is obviously my [only] fan. Haha.
