I Found A Time Machine

Well, not really. But I was able to find a website that recovered some of my blog entries from Friendster!

Yes, you read it right...FRIENDSTER! That Facebook predecessor that only 30 year-olds know about and thought would change the world. Lol.

Obviously I never pass on the chance to publicize my thoughts online, so I of course had a blog on Friendster before. The Wayback Machine was only able to recover the last few entries but it was enough to get me hiding behind the sheets in shame. I JUST CANNOT WITH MY 2008 SELF. Truthfully it was both fun and depressing to read my past entries. I wrote a couple of articles that set goals for my 24/25-year-old self (I was 23 going on 24 at the time), and 7 years later, I have achieved only 10%.

I even wrote about auditioning for Amazing Race Asia, but I didn't really push through with that plan. I know it's a long shot and that I had a slim chance of getting in (or none at all), but I really should have walked the talk and submitted my application. You know, just for kicks. Tsk. I write a lot about making hay while the sun shines, but in reality, all I do is watch opportunities pass me by. After re-reading my blog I kind of wished I didn't speak my mind too much. Hahaha! Because right now I'm wondering what happened in between then and now that prevented me from achieving the goals I set for myself. Also, at one point I wanted to zip my big 23-year old mouth for speaking so definitely about these things, especially when I wrote:

"...but i want to at least make an effort. that way i wont feel too bad about not going for what i want again."
"...i hope i get to do all these things before my set deadline. or else i’d read this again and wallow in misery."

DEAR 23 YEAR-OLD GISELLE, 

HI. SO I DID READ YOUR BLOG AGAIN AND I AM NOW WALLOWING IN MISERY. I WASN'T ABLE TO FOLLOW YOUR TIMELINE. BE MORE FLEXIBLE NEXT TIME AND TAKE IT EASY WITH THE DEADLINES. AKO ANG NADADALE SA'YO.
