But it is about having the x-factor after all (no pun intended), and while Sanchez had the talent, Phillips had that and more. His songs engage. Like this one, which I just heard on the radio while driving home.
The first words that caught my attention were these:
"Your hope dangling by a string, I'll share in your suffering to make you well...To make you well."
And then...
"I surrender honestly. You've always done the same for me." - Gone, Gone, Gone by Phillip Phillips
Wow. Complete surrender. Selflessness is something I'll never learn. And I doubt the general public has ever lived up to the definition of the word either. But at least someone wrote a song about it. We at least can pretend it exists. Lol..negatron.
Anyway...I thought it was a Mumford & Sons song until Google corrected me. I won't post the official MV because it was too festive (no really, there's like a mini festival at the end) and didn't suit my initial feel of the song. But that's just me. You can watch it here if you're stubborn.
